Native to the Yangtze basin in China; now found on every continent except for Antarctica. It begins life as a tiny polyp which lives in colonies attached to underwater vegetation and rocks, asexually reproducing. Sexually reproducing medusa’s appearance is sporadic, especially in temperate climates.
